Defining effective communication for critically ill patients with an artificial airway: An international multi-professional consensus

Critically ill patients, like those in intensive care units, are a highly complex and varied group. Many critically ill patients need mechanical ventilation. Assessing communication in this population is challenging. This study provides international multi-professional consensus terminology and a
definition of effective communication which can be used in clinical practice.
