Peter Gibilisco has never been one to shy away from a challenge. Living with Friedreich ataxia, a rare genetic condition that progressively affects muscle coordination and speech, Peter has navigated profound personal and professional changes over time. Among these, one of the most difficult has been the way his condition has affected his communication.
“My own speech has changed over time and Redenlab recognise the importance of communication,” Peter says. For someone whose career and daily interactions were once driven by fluent communication, these changes have been deeply impactful. As his speech changed, so too did the opportunities available to him. “I have Friedreich ataxia and the changes to my speech resulting from its progression have dramatically limited my ability to pursue a career,” he explains. “It is great to work with a company advocating for the value of communication in clinical trials and clinical care.”
